Listen to “Run This Town” on last.fm radio

Rihanna does her magic on the hook and we have ourselves a hit for top 40 radio. While I’m counting on “Run This Town”  having greater success at urban radio, the crossover potential for the pop audience is evident in this song.

Kanye West gets back to what he does best (rapping…without AutoTune) and Kanye rivets your attention with lines like “She got an ass that’ll swallow up a G-string.”

I love Rihanna’s hook and Kanye’s verse, but Jay-Z was the highlight of this song for me. Jay was just too damn swaggerific on this one.

Lyrically Jay-Z always brings his A-game but for me the best part was hearing how comfortable and in control of his flow Jay was on this beat. He’s a thrill to listen to when he’s in the zone like that.

I think “Run This Town” is a strong choice for the first official single off The Blueprint 3 and I’m curious to hear what Jay-Z follows it up with. (editor’s note: “Death of AutoTune” is a promo single)

Reader Input:

Is “Run This Town” on par with past Jay-Z singles, better, or worse?

Who has the best part in the song– Jay-Z, Rihanna, or Kanye?
