Back in mid-June, here on The Hit Music Academy we predicted that “You’re a Jerk” would be a Billboard Top 40 hit.
“You’re a Jerk” entered at #32 on the US Billboard Hot 100 four weeks ago (just days after our posted prediction).
During that time it has dipped to #38 and then #40 before going up to #30, where it hovers at this week.
Reason for the stall?
My guess is that pop stations aren’t playing it much. Heavy rotation on urban stations can only keep a song afloat on the main Billboard chart for so long. “Stanky Legg” (GS Boyz) and “Halle Berry” (Hurricane Chris) are great examples of how this dynamic plays out.
Nonetheless “You’re a Jerk” is the 1st successful hit prediction here on The Hit Music Academy ^_^
Allow us a moment to be proud of our little achievement…
OK, that’s enough.
More hit predictions on the way…
Do you like “You’re a Jerk”?
Are you surprised that “You’re a Jerk” isn’t really blowing up the way the New Boyz might have hoped?
Tell us what you think in the comments section.
